The Best Breakfast Foods for a Healthy Mouth

Cereal may be an easy go-to meal for hectic mornings before school and work, but some varieties are filled with artificial sweeteners and refined sugars that can wreak havoc on your dental health.

If cereal is a must in your house, look for low-sugar options made from whole grains. Or, branch out with other healthy breakfast options that travel well and supply the energy you'll need for busy days:

  • Fresh fruit, such as apples, cherries, pears, berries and melons
  • Cottage cheese and yogurt
  • Eggs (a batch of hard-boiled eggs made ahead of time will last for several days in the refrigerator)
  • Sugar-free smoothies
  • Whole-wheat toast and whole-wheat bagels
